Can I get a tattoo at the festival?

Yes. A tattoo convention is a working festival where every tattoo artist work and offer their art to the audience. As an audience you can walk right of to an artist and ask to be tattoed. Getting a tattoo at a convention is an experience beyond the ordinary. Here are more than 150 tattoo artists to choose from. Some however are already booked in advance all days, so it's not all tattooists who have available times.

How do I get a tattoo at the festival?

You need to book a time directly with the tattoo artist in advance or at the festival. If you want to be sure to get a tattoo, be sure to book a time directly from the tattoo artist at his respective website. You can find links to all tattooist here on the website. Copenhagen Ink Festival has nothing to do with booking of times. Many of the most popular tattoo artists are booked several months before the festival, so be in good time if you want a tattoo of a particular artist. 
It is also possible to apply directly to the tattoo artists at the festival and get a tattoo. However we can not guarantee that they have available times.

How do I book an appointment with a particular tattoo artist?

You book a time by contacting the tattoo artist directly via their own website or walk up to the artist at the festival and check out available times. Many artists have open calendars for the festival too. You can find links to all websites in the submenu "Artists". 
You may also be tattooed at the festival without having to book time in advance. Many of the tattoo artist are have open calendars so you can go directly to the stand and be tattooed. Many of the most popular and renowned tattooists will be booked several months before the festival, so it is advisable to book in advance of the festival, if you want tattooed by a particular tattoo artist.

How do I pay for my tattoo?

You arrange with the tattoo artist how your tattoo has to be paid. Some require a deposit - payable when booking, others take only cash and some also accept credit cards.  Always agree on the terms when you book your time. Copenhagen Ink Festival have nothing to do with payments of tattoos. It is exclusively a matter between the client and the tattoo artist.

How old do I have to be and can I get a tattoo anywhere on your body?

Under Danish law you must be 18 or older to get a tattoo. Furthermore it is forbidden to tattoo on hands, face and neck.

What about hygiene?

All tattooists at the festival are using sterile equipment and new needles every time. Excess color is thrown away. There is always new rubber gloves at a new session. Work tables are cleaned after each customer and covered with film before the next customer arrives. All materials will be packaged in autoclave bags and sterilized and are only opened just before use.

How should I treat my tattoo?


Leave the bandage on the tattoo in a minimum of two hours and a maximum of 24 hours. Remove any congealed blood and remnants of ointment. Clean gently with soap and water. Never scrub the tattoo. Apply a thin layer of ointment which you will receive from the tattoo artist. Wash the tattoo two to three times daily for approx. one week. Spread a thin layer of ointment after each wash. Never use other than the ointments given to you by the tattoo artist. Never scratch in the tattoo and avoid direct sunlight for the first month.

Can anyone get a tattoo at the festival?

Yes, if you are over 18 years. Bring ID.

How do I participate in the audience competition at the festival?

You sign up for the competition by contacting us at the information-stand.

How do I find the way to the festival?


Several buses drive in the direction of TAP1, New Carlsbergvej 91, 1799 Copenhagen V. You can also take the commuter train to Enghave Station, located five minutes walk from TAP1. TAP1 is centrally located in Vesterbro approximately 1,5 miles from City Hall. See map

What is the ticket price and how do I buy them?

Tickets can be purchased at the door, but we encourage to buy them in presale. Admission: pr. day presale: 150 Dkr / 20 Euro. 3-days pass 300 Dkr. / 40 Euro

Prices at door. Pr. day 190 Dkr. 26 euro. 3-days pass: 300 Dkr. / 40 Euro.

Students: 100 kr. pr. day at the door with presentation of student card.

Children under 12: free when accompained with an adult.
